Katie Rice
FOUNDER & MSW
Therapy and Consultation
Katie is a social worker and psychotherapist with 15 years of experience in medical social work. She has worked across populations but ultimately found a home and passion in the care of oncology patients. She has a particular focus on individuals affected by breast cancer and spent 7 years as part of a specialized team providing care for young women affected by the disease. She is experienced in the unique issues that confront a younger cancer population such as fertility, career and family challenges. In recent years Katie has worked exclusively as a psychotherapist, with her private practice focusing on the care of individuals affected by cancer.
A move outside of Toronto has highlighted a gap in general psychosocial support for clients in this space. Through the Care Counsel, Katie is pursuing her vision of compiling a high-quality and oncology-informed option for clients who are looking for additional support beyond what might be publicly available to patients in need. Katie works from a trauma informed and eclectic mix of therapy modalities and has certifications and experience in CBT, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, DBT and narrative therapies. Katie provides virtual teletherapy services and a limited number of home visits within the Halton region.
Katie can provide a free of charge 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss your needs in advance of booking.
Katie also provides consultation to therapists working with clients impacted by Cancer.
